The Heart & Vascular Center at
Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa

Five Star Doctors. Five Star Quality. Five Star Outcomes.
Completed in 2001, the Heart & Vascular Center capitalizes on the most current technological resources, knowledge, and experience in every significant arena of cardiac care – from cardiac catheterization to open heart surgery, from preventive care to rehabilitation. The Heart & Vascular Center brings together the finest physicians, nurse specialists, technicians, and equipment in a state-of-the-art facility, built and equipped to exacting standards of patient care and comfort. Our dedicated staff of professionals shares one common goal; to provide services of unsurpassed quality that address the full range of heart care needs for patients throughout the North Coast region.
Surgery
The Heart Center offers comprehensive surgical options, including open-heart bypass, valve repair, and pacemaker installation, in a suite dedicated to cardiovascular surgery. Experienced heart surgeons and specially trained cardiac nurses and technicians are available 24 hours a day. New surgical techniques include minimally invasive surgery requiring only small incisions, and “beating heart surgery,” which enables surgery without the use of a heart-lung machine. These procedures have been shown to assist in faster recovery, reduced hospital stays, and fewer postsurgical complications.
Catheterization Labs

Our new Catheterization Laboratories provide patients and their physicians with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment procedures. The lab’s dedicated check-in system assures patients easy and convenient appointments for such procedures as
- Coronary Angiography
- Vascular Intervention
Electrophysiology Lab
The Heart Center’s electrophysiology lab incorporates the most current technology available in Sonoma County. An electrophysiologist is an “electrician for the heart” – a cardiologist with expertise in diagnosing
and treating the problems that cause the heart to beat too slow, too fast, or irregularly. Specialized equipment helps the electrophysiologist diagnose and treat the heart’s electrical system.
Prevention & Rehabilitation
Heart disease, in many cases, is preventable. Even after disease has developed, it can be highly responsive to behavioral changes, often allowing patients to return to life activities that may have been denied to them for many years. The Heart Center provides comprehensive prevention and rehabilitation programs. Sutter Medical Center is a proud supporter of the Center for Well-Being's Heart Works Fitness Center.
