Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa Receives $100k Donation For Breast Care Services
Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa (SMCSR) recently received a $100,000 donation from Rosemount Estate, one of Australia's most prominent wineries, to support the medical center's Breast Cancer Service.
The goal of the Breast Care Service, based at SMCSR's Women's Health Resource Center in Santa Rosa, is to help meet the increasing need and demand for a coordinated, compassionate, team approach to diagnosing, treating and coping with breast cancer. SMCSR hopes to facilitate collaboration in Sonoma County among patients and health care providers to increase early detection rates, enhance the utilization of less invasive and breast-conserving procedures, and decrease the number of breast cancer deaths in Sonoma County.
Rosemount Estate raised the $100,000 dollars through its "Raise a Glass to a Cure" promotion that began in October 2001. The winery donated $1.00 for every bottle of Rosemount Estate wine purchased beginning October 1, 2001 up to the value of $100,000.
Joel Grey, Senior Vice President of Sutter Health and interim CEO of SMCSR, Amy Shaw, MD, SMCSR Chief of Staff, and Medical Director of the Women's Health Resource Center were among those from Sutter, along with executives from Rosemount Estate, in attendance at the check presentation ceremony.
