Survey Results Recognize Quality Care
Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa (SMCSR) was among many Sutter Health hospitals recently recognized for outstanding patient care and leadership. The occasion was a summary conference that followed comprehensive surveys this year of 20 Sutter hospitals, six home care facilities and six long-term care facilities. The Consolidated Accreditation and Licensure Surveys (CALS) are conducted every three years by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the Institute for Medical Quality and the State Department of Health Services.
During the 3-day survey, SMCSR received a very respectable score of 90 (out of 100 maximum).
At the summary conference, JCAHO Team Leader Inez Kennemore, R.N., singled out specific examples of outstanding clinical care and leadership, making particular note of "best practices."
Ms. Kennemore praised SMCSR for best practices demonstrated in pain assessment and the management of neonatal and pediatric patients. She also noted the positive benefits and treatment plans that are generated from care team conferences to assess the care for geriatric patients, and commended the hospital's performance improvement planning and follow-up.
