    Employee Giving

    Caring and sharing... going beyond

    Dear Colleague:

As health care providers we are very fortunate. It is our privilege, every day, to deliver top quality care and make a real difference in our community. We also have an annual opportunity to personally help co-workers facing hardship and patients in financial need. The Sutter Medical Center Santa Rosa Caring & Sharing program is designed to give employees an automated way to donate through small payroll deductions.

The Employee Hardship Fund and Sutter Samaritan Fund are solely supported through employee giving, so your contribution really does make a difference – and every dollar counts. Here are just a few examples of how your giving has already helped:

    Employee Hardship Fund

    • After suffering the devastating loss of her home and possessions due to fire, one of your co-workers was left with nothing. Your generosity to the Employee Hardship Fund helped rebuild her life.
    • Many of your co-workers had sudden injuries or illnesses and experienced a shortfall in their disability benefits. Support from your Employee Hardship Fund diminished their financial stress as they recovered.
    • One of your co-workers had a child die overseas and needed to fly the body back to the United States. Your Employee Hardship Fund helped pay the international airfare home.

    Sutter Samaritan Fund

    • Many of our patients and their families who miss work due to hospitalization are left without enough money to pay utilities or buy groceries. Your gift to the Sutter Samaritan Fund provides phone and grocery gift cards that help these folks get through a tough time.
    • A patient with very serious health problems had to move in the middle of the holiday season last year. Her financial resources were completely depleted as she was barely managing to avoid homelessness. The Sutter Samaritan Fund allowed her to give some holiday gifts to her 13 year-old son.

If you have any questions about the program, email Shaun Ralston or call (707) 576-4847.

Thank you for your caring and generous spirit!

    Sincerely,

    Mike Purvis, CAO
