Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa has a long history in Sonoma County dating back to 1866 when the first hospital was opened. In 1996, Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa became an affiliate of Sutter Health. Sutter Health is one Northern California's largest non- profit health care networks made up of over two dozen affiliated hospitals and over 5,000 aligned physicians.

Continuing a quest to enhance the resources available to patients in this community, Sutter Health and Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa announced in February of 2001, the purchase of Warrack Hospital, a 69-bed acute care facility on the east side of Santa Rosa. In 2005 the acute care licenses of both hospitals were consolidated and the facilites are now referred to as the Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa Chanate and Warrack Campuses.
Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa is licensed by the State of California Department of Health Services to operate 244 beds and is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the California Medical Association. Sutter Medical Center is a non-profit organization with a voluntary Board of Trustees made up primarily of community members.
In addition to an extensive array of in and outpatient services, Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa has developed programs designed to address the needs of our community.
